Green shoots or not, building confidence is what matters

Several sectors of the industry say we may be seeing "green shoots" of recovery. Are we clutching at straws or are we seeing real signs of recovery? Or should we stop guessing and just focus on areas we can influence - sentiment and confidence? P@SSPORT reports.

I was fortunate to catch the gala opening performance of the Singapore Arts Festival. "Sutra", a collaboration between Shaolin monks and Western dance, was the hot ticket item and it lived up to - no, it exceeded - expectations.

The performance was haunting, beautiful, entertaining, enthralling. There was strength and grace in the movements; a sense of playfulness and fun in the choreography; and in the simplicity of the stage and the wooden boxes that were used as props, a great deal of precision and creativity.

It crossed my mind as I watched this that if we brought all these elements to our work and our business, we will get through what remains a challenging year.

The Arts Festival is on, the Great Singapore Sale is here, the Singapore River Festival is round the corner – all these events take planning and creativity for them to succeed. And they offer more reasons for visitors to come to Singapore.

Spread the word, build confidence and enjoy reading this month's issue of P@SSPORT.

Sincerely,
Ken Low
