I am sure it’s more than safe for me to say that we have come a long way since then. Although we have been established as a hub for business and MICE events for a while now, the array of pre- and post-meeting leisure options currently available to business travellers is nothing short of dazzling – and this spells good news for the increasing number of business travellers and MICE delegates.
With a total of 108 new and inaugural business events held in Singapore last year and event attendance growing at an average rate of 15 to 20 per cent, the impact of business travel and MICE will be felt far and wide beyond the immediate tourism sector.
June’s calendar alone is decorated with a slew of events, including a number of firsts such as Music Matters, ScreenSingapore and the IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo that was held in Singapore for the first time. Further down the road, there is the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) to look forward to, and the much-anticipated TravelRave 2011 comprising a number of new events to be held under its umbrella from 7 to 23 October 2011.
As we take a confident step into the second half of 2011, we don’t want to reveal too much of what’s in store save to say that there are plenty of reasons to keep your eyes peeled for more to come.
For now, enjoy the current issue!
Sincerely,
Oliver Chong
