Shanghai World Expo impresses many

It was quite amazing to be in Shanghai for the World Expo last month. The city has completely transformed. The change in the infrastructure is astounding.

When I came here two years ago, the site of the World Expo was a dilapidated, rusty, abandoned mess of steel shipyards, mud flats and squatters. Today, it is unrecognisable and in its place are some really impressive structures and beautiful landscaping alongside the Huang Pu river.

I hope you will all take the opportunity to visit the Singapore Pavilion in the next few months and see for yourselves our "Urban Symphony" as well as a city transformed. Can more be said of the Singapore Pavilion and its unique concept and how it appeals to the senses?

Back home in Singapore, we look forward to the grand opening this month of the Marina Bay Sands. Once again, our city changes to welcome more visitors.

Sincerely,
Ken Low
Assistant Chief Executive
