Reflecting on the year that has been

As we enter the last month of the first decade of a new century, it is worth taking time to reflect on the year that has been. It has certainly been fraught with challenges, but filled with invaluable lessons as well.

What were the lessons I learnt in 2009? That which doesn't break us only makes us stronger, and that Singapore's tourism industry, I believe, has united well and continued to innovate. As a result, we will enter 2010 stronger, and better for it.

What are my wishes for 2010? Well, peace on earth, goodwill towards men (and women and dogs and other related domesticated animals) and I am keeping the last wish up my sleeve.

After all, one must always have a wish for a rainy day.

Sincerely,
Ken Low
Assistant Chief Executive
