December, a time for celebrations and reflection

So where did the year go? It wasn't too long ago that we were welcoming 2008 with much anticipation and excitement and now, at the tail end, looking forward to 2009 with some uncertainty.

But let's not forget. December is a time for celebrations. I caught Kylie Minogue in concert last month and as I watched the near sold-out audience, dancing and screaming for more, I realised that it's intrinsic to human nature to want to escape, and celebrate.

And where better to escape to than Singapore, transformed into a sweet fantasy this year-end season, where lights glitter and sales abound?

As the Australian pop diva sang in her song, "No More Rain",

"Have you ever thought that the sky was just endlessly dark?
And then look up and see a million stars"

So let's look up to a brand new 2009, and dive into it with courage and conviction that as long as we stand together, Singapore's tourism industry will weather whatever awaits us in the year ahead.

Sincerely,
Ken Low
Assistant Chief Executive
Brand & Communications
