STB looking for the right team to showcase Singapore at World Expo

To prepare for its biggest participation at a World Expo yet, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is looking for a multi-disciplinary team to develop the Singapore Pavilion at the Shanghai event in 2010.

Interested parties are being asked to submit their credentials by 8 October.

Teams which possess suitable track records, credentials and relevant experience and are able to showcase a high quality of relevant past projects will be selected to participate in the tender submission process. The team should also comprise experts from various design-related fields including but not limited to architecture, advertising, branding, and digital media, environmental design and content programming.

Mr Ken Low, Assistant Chief Executive, Brand & Communications, STB, said, "The World Expo Shanghai 2010 is an important platform for cross-nation dialogues to address the challenge of building sustainable cities. Given its significance, we are looking to partner with companies that would be able to translate Singapore's achievements in sustainable development into a powerful and Uniquely Singapore experience for the visitors to the Singapore Pavilion.

"The pavilion will be built to engage and inspire, providing visitors with the ultimate in sensory experience, hence the need for us to partner a strong multi-disciplinary team of creative talents."

Meanwhile, entries are coming in for the online competition launched by the STB to encourage the country's netizens to submit ideas for the Singapore pavilion.

The contest at the World Expo website invites folks to submit an idea under one of the five Expo sub-themes or propose a new theme for the pavilion and winners stand to win a trip to the Expo.

Some of the ideas submitted so far include "Visions of the Future, in harmony with the past" and a call to build a 3D virtual tour of Singapore. The competition ends on 31 December.

The 3,000sqm Singapore Pavilion has the working theme of "City of Possibilities, Transforming Lives".

The World Expo will be held in Shanghai from 1 May to 31 October 2010 and is expected to attract 70 million visitors. Since 1986, Singapore has been participating in World Expos in Vancouver, Brisbane, Seville, Hanover and most recently in Aichi, Japan. The Shanghai Expo in 2010 would see the largest-scale participation by Singapore yet in any Expo.

Note: More information and templates for submission can be obtained via the Government Electronic Business website address www.gebiz.gov.sg.
