Tapping into the Korean market

Speaking at the press conference on 11 September, Mr Rostam Umar, Director of Communications at the STB, said that Korea is a key market for Singapore, making up the eighth-largest visitor source market for Singapore last year.

In 2007, a record 464,000 South Korean visitors came to Singapore. From January to June this year, Singapore received 236,000 visitors from South Korea, an increase of five percent over the same period last year.

"With the large fan base for Korean drama serials, both in Korea and in other markets in Asia and even the United States, supporting productions such as Worlds Within gives us the opportunity to showcase Singapore's modern city offerings and its unique culture, traditions and architecture, all reflecting a rich blend of the East and West. We hope that through watching Worlds Within, viewers will be inspired to visit Singapore and experience their own unique personal moments here," said Mr Umar.
