2009 Reasons to meet in Singapore
2009 Reasons to meet in Singapore

In a bid to encourage corporate travel to and meetings in Singapore, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has put together a string of offers under the “2009 Reasons to meet in Singapore” campaign.

Launched at the IMEX trade fair in Germany in late May, the aim of the campaign is to reduce business travel costs and encourage business travel to Singapore.

Targeted at business delegates, the “2009 Reasons to meet in Singapore” campaign offers an attractive array of deals and promotions for accommodation, meetings, attractions and leisure offerings.

Besides enjoying value-for-money promotions for hotels, retail, F&B and meetings facilities, business travellers and delegates are being encouraged to bring along their partners when they travel to Singapore for business.

Deals and promotions not to be missed

1. Attractive hotel deals and room packages with 22 participating hotels such as:

  • “Stay a minimum four nights and get the fifth night free” with Conrad Centennial Singapore;
  • “Stay three nights at Deluxe Room & get the fourth night at 50 per cent discount” deals with Goodwood Park Hotel and Peninsula Excelsior Hotel; and
  • “Explore Singapore hotel package” for two nights with Fullerton Hotel at a special rate of S$828++. This package includes American Buffet Breakfast for two persons, two tickets to Singapore Flyer, two tickets to a River Bumboat ride and two tickets to the Peranakan Museum and the Asian Civilisations Museum, providing total cost savings of more than 60 per cent.

2. “Bring Along a Partner” promotion which features special deals for a delegate's partner such as:

  • Complimentary one-for-one buffet dinner (for one night) by Shangri-La Hotel; and
  • Special spa treatments by selected hotels at discounted rates.

Business travellers who visit Singapore can also enjoy attractive retail and F&B promotions under the “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” campaign.

3. “Meetings For Free” by Conrad Centennial Singapore and “Meeting/Seminar package for Free” by Hotel Rendezvous where clients can enjoy a meeting package with their guestroom bookings.

4. From August onwards, a new Business Travellers Card will be distributed to foreign delegates who attend exhibitions and conventions taking place in Singapore until December 2009. Delegates who present the card at participating outlets will enjoy deals such as:

  • Happy Hours All Night Long – Harry’s Bar one-for-one Harry’s Premium Lager;
  • 20 per cent off a Singapore Flight (adult & child) or 25 per cent off a Signature Cocktail Flight at the Singapore Flyer;
  • 15 per cent off selected Esplanade souvenirs at the Esplanade Shop; and
  • Special health screening packages at National University Hospital, Parkway Health Screening Centre, Raffles Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Global promotions provide more reasons to enjoy Singapore

This Business Travel and MICE campaign is part of the umbrella “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” launched in February 2009 to stimulate visitor demand amid the softening market conditions.

Thus far, a series of promotions have been launched globally and in markets such as China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Stopover packages have also been launched in Australia, Germany and the UK.

The Fly on US online competition, available through Facebook, has so far seen 17 pairs of tickets given away and two winners awarded the cash prize of S$10,000 each. The competition ended in May.

Campaign promotions for June are themed around the Great Singapore Sale (GSS). In addition, visitors are being offered great deals at visitor attractions and participating hotels.
