STB Board and staff announcements

New Board Members

The STB would like to thank outgoing Board Members Mr Frank Brown, Ms Chan Lai Fung, Mr Huang Cheng Eng, and Ms Saw Phaik Hwa for their counsel and strategic advice and welcome the following newly appointed Board Members:

Mr Anthony Davis

Mr Davis is the President and CEO of Tiger Airways. Since his appointment with Tiger Airways in 2005, the airline has expanded to 13 destinations in seven countries. He was formerly the founding Managing Director of bmibaby, the successful British low cost carrier. Mr Davis has over 20 years experience in the airline industry formulating and implementing international airline strategies and representing airlines in negotiations with government and regulatory agencies globally.

Mdm Kay Kuok Oon Kwong

Mdm Kuok is currently the Executive Chairman, Shangri-La Hotel Singapore Limited, a post she has held since 2000. She also holds directorships with Kuok (Singapore) Ltd, Kuok Brothers Sdn Bhd and Allgreen Properties Ltd. In addition, Mdm Kuok is Co-Chairperson of the Tourism Consultative Council, President, of the Singapore Hotel Association, Councillor and Chairperson of the Arts & Culture Functional Committee with the South West CDC and a Member of the National Youth Achievement Award and NTU Business Degree Programmes Advisory Boards.

Mr Steven Lim

Mr Lim is currently an audit committee member of A*STAR (Agency for Science Technology & Research) and a board member of several public listed companies in Singapore. With more than 32 years of audit experience, Mr Lim was formerly a Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen Singapore till July 2002 and then a Senior Partner with Ernst & Young before retiring June 2003. Mr Lim has extensive regional business experience in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam.

Mr Tang Tuck Weng

Mr Tang is currently Director (Housing) with the Ministry of National Development. He was formerly Director (Planning) at the Ministry of Education from 2002 to 2006, and Director (Sea, Air and Telecoms) at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology from1999 to 2001. Prior to his appointment as an STB Board member, he also sat on the boards of the National Heritage Board, the Singapore Discovery Centre, Nanyang Polytechnic and the Public Transport Council

Staff Announcements

Mr Quek Swee Kuan joined the Board as Deputy Chief Executive (International Operations), DCE (IO) on 1 February 2007. Mr Quek joins the STB after 13 years with the Economic Development Board, where he spent more than five years in San Francisco managing the Western Region of North America.

He returned to Singapore towards the end of 2000 and, as a member of EDB's senior leadership team, performed concurrent roles of Director for North America based in Singapore, Director for Infocomms and Media and CIO. More recently, he also doubled up as the EDB's Deputy Executive Director and was actively involved in the national efforts to drive the Interactive Digital Media industry.

With Mr Quek's appointment as DCE (IO), Mr Kevin Leong, Regional Director Oceania (RDO) and Senior Director (Special Projects) (SD), has relinquished his duties as Covering Coordinating Regional Director (International Group).

Mr Paul Tan has rejoined the STB to take up the appointment of Regional Director, North Asia (RDNA) at STB Tokyo on 1 February 2007. Mr Tan will be in STB HQ for the month of February for orientation, before assuming his posting to Tokyo on 1 March 2007. With Paul's appointment, Mr Addison Goh, Area Director Korea (ArDK) will relinquish his duties as Coordinating Area Director for North Asia.

Mr Oliver Chong, Director, Events & Entertainment Cluster Development will be posted to STB London as Regional Director, Europe (RDE) from 1 March 2007. Mr Justin Chew, Regional Director, Americas, will relinquish his role as covering Regional Director, Europe.

With effect from 15 January 2007, Ms Margaret Teo, Director Integrated Resorts took on the concurrent appointment of Director Travel and Hospitality Business (DTHB).

With effect 1 January 2007, Mr Kenneth Lim became Area Director of Northern & Eastern India (STB Delhi).
