Krrish Completes Filming in Singapore
Krrish, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the Bollywood blockbuster film Koi Mil Gaya, wrapped up the filming of its Singapore scenes on 11 November. Krrish is the first mega Indian movie to be shot in Singapore under the Film in Singapore! Scheme. The scheme aims to facilitate international film-makers and broadcasters in the shooting, production and post-production of quality movies and television programmes in Singapore.

Krrish is produced by renowned director Rakesh Roshan and supported by a strong cast including celebrities Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Naseeruddin Shah, as well as famous stunt director, Tony Ching. About 60 per cent of Krrish’s scenes were shot on location between September and November at various landmarks in Singapore, such as Singapore Zoo, Chinatown and Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

The filming of Krrish’s scenes in Singapore began with much fanfare on 15 September, with a unique blessing ceremony at the STB. Krrish was not only a significant project for the STB in building the Uniquely Singapore brand and showcasing Singapore as an attractive destination; it created many special memories for its fans and the public. 31 students with special needs from India and Singapore were thrilled to meet the stars of Krrish on the movie set, a result of the special arrangement made by the STB and the Indian Women’s Association. Some Singaporeans also relished their cameo appearances in Krrish, including Bollywood buff Mohammed Zahid, who was invited by the STB and the production team to meet Hrithik Roshan and act the part of a passer-by in one of the scenes.

With the Film in Singapore! Scheme, the STB aims to encourage international film-makers and broadcasters to shoot and produce movies and programmes in Singapore. Singapore’s heartlands, tourist attractions and way of life offer a very unique setting for location shoots.  Through the scheme, film-makers or broadcasters may be granted financial support or other assistance to facilitate their projects.
