Singapore Pavilion Opened at 2nd China-ASEAN Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education, Mr Chan Soo Sen, opened the Singapore Pavilion on 19 October at the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) held in Nanning city, Guangxi Province of P R China. This was the second time Singapore had participated in CAEXPO, reinforcing its commitment to foster stronger relationships with P R China and deepen regional ties with ASEAN, as well as enhance regional development through the promotion of economic, tourism and trade cooperation.
This year, the theme for the Singapore Pavilion revolved around the concept of a jewel box. Themed “Unique People, Unique Places”, the Singapore Pavilion provided a multi-sensory experience of Uniquely Singapore through interactive displays and exhibits, as well as dance performances by Singapore’s home-grown artistes. Visitors to the glittering Singapore Pavilion were treated to a 6-minute, 270-degree immersive multimedia video, which depicted the seven themes of education, lifestyle, medicine, transportation, communication, commerce, arts and culture in Singapore. These were seen through a young lady's life experiences, lending a personal touch to the themes. The modern and sophisticated design of the Singapore Pavilion proved to be one of the crowd-favorites at the Expo and had won "The Best Creativity" Award, awarded by the China-ASEAN EXPO Organizing Committee 2005.
Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education, Mr Chan Soo Sen was accompanied by a delegation of over 60 Singapore officials and company representatives, who participated in the CAEXPO and Business & Investment Summit from 19 - 22 October.
