6th Tourism Consultative Council Meeting
The 6th Tourism Consultative Council (TCC) meeting was held on 6 October at the Pan Pacific Hotel. The meeting was co-chaired by the STB's Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive, Mr Lim Neo Chian and Madam Kay Kuok, Executive Chairman, Shangri-La Hotels. Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and 2nd Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Vivian Balakrishan, who is the Council's Honorary Advisor, was also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the Council members were briefed on the STB’s 3-Year Plan for the tourism sector. The STB also updated the Council on the current hotel room situation in Singapore, recent refinements to the Leisure Group and the performance of the tourism sector to-date.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with Minister Balakrishnan sending out a call for radical ideas and concepts for the government to evaluate, so as to add more buzz to the tourism sector in Singapore.

Mr Pakir Singh, who represented the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) on the TCC has retired. The STB would like to thank him for his support and contribution to the Council. The TCC also welcomes SHA’s new representative, Ms Margaret Heng, Divisional Director, Membership Services and Industry Matters.
