Quidam by Cirque du Soleil Quidam, the third production by Cirque du Soleil since Saltimbanco and Alegria, is back in Singapore from 8 September - 15 October. The staging of Quidam reaffirms Singapore's position as the events capital of Asia. With more than 50 performers from 10 countries, Quidam is a stunning act of acrobatic artistry, technical expertise, extravagant design and exceptional musical inspiration, woven into a seamless whole by an emotional dramatic thread. Singapore JewelFest 2005 October heralds Singapore JewelFest 2005, the ultimate consumer jewellery festival happening not only in the heart of Orchard Road, but in the heartlands too! Happening from 30 September - 19 October, this signature event presents the latest collections of more than 36 jewellery brands from overseas and Singapore. At the Jewellery Pavilion at Ngee Ann City, be dazzled by a line-up of experiential runway shows and jewellery talks. Island-wide exclusive deals will also be offered to locals and tourists by participating jewellers throughout October. Hari Raya Celebrations 2005 Hari Raya Puasa is a significant celebration for the Muslim community in Singapore. This day marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting. This year, the Hari Raya Celebrations will take place from 1 October - 13 November at two festive hubs - Geylang Serai and Kampong Gelam and stretching one and a half weeks longer than last year's celebrations. Catch the spectacle of fairy lights, colourful street decorations, brilliantly decorated arches and lively night bazaar that characterize this annual festival light-up!
The traditional light-up at Geylang Serai starts on 1 October with a first-ever arts and dance street procession. From 22 October - 13 November, the festival light-up will be extended to Kampong Gelam for the first time! Cultural performances and activities, showcasing the rich Malay and Arabic traditions of celebrating Hari Raya will also take place at the Malay Heritage Centre on weekends. |

José Carreras - Celebrating 100 years of Victoria Concert Hall The Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) presents one of the world's greatest tenor José Carreras in three special performances from 5 - 9 October, forming the apex of the 100th Birthday celebrations of the Victoria Concert Hall, long renowned as one of the most historically-significant concert venues in Singapore. Carreras was last heard in Singapore in 2002, in a one-night only concert with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. |

Deepavali Festival Little India will transform into an explosion of dazzling colours and festive buzz from 7 October – 6 November to mark Deepavali - the Festival of Lights - celebrated by the Indian community. Be enchanted by the dazzling street light-up and the exotic array of ethnic goods such as brightly-coloured sarees, shining jewellery, aromatic spices, sweet yoghurt and scented jasmine garlands. Join the local Indians in their festive shopping along Campbell Lane, which transforms into a bustling street bazaar from 11.00am to 11.00pm daily. |
