The biggest VIP event ever to come to Singapore and a triple festival treat – you couldn’t ask for a more exciting time to be in Singapore than this September.
From 13 to 20 September, Singapore 2006 will see the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group Boards of Governors Annual Meetings in town and about 16,000 people with it.
They'll all have a chance to experience Uniquely Singapore in their own unique, personal way. |
|
Depending on their experiences, every one of them will become a potential ambassador of our city. That’s how important conferences such as these are to our destination – each has knock-on effects which no amount of marketing can match.
They’ll be seeing Singapore at its best and brightest; indeed visitors to Singapore in September and October will experience three festivals in one.
Little India will be bathed in Deepavali light from 21 September. Kampong Gelam and Geylang Serai will be at their twinkling best from 22 September for the Hari Raya Puasa festivities. And Chinatown will be lit up from 23 September with the dawn of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.
This, to me, is what is most unique about Singapore. Where else would you celebrate three different religious festivals in such close proximity to the other?
So bring along your lanterns and mooncakes and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, walk through Little India to breathe in spicy aromas and watch some fire-walking during Deepavali and enjoy the best of Malay culture and cuisine during Hari Raya Puasa.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue and keep your feedback and suggestions coming.
Sincerely, Ken Low Assistant Chief Executive Brand & Communications | | |
