Formation of Singapore Experience
The STB is a strategic partner of the Singapore 2006 Organising Committee (S2006) for the IMF/World Bank Group Annual Meetings in September 2006.
Singapore Experience, a divisional spin-off from the Business Travel & MICE (BT & MICE) Group will be formed from 1 October 2005 to 31 October 2006 to plan, coordinate, integrate and implement the various events and programmes of the Annual Meetings and a host of ancillary events. This is to ensure that all 16,000 foreign delegates of the Meeting will enjoy memorable and Uniquely Singapore experiences from pre-arrival to post-departure.
The Singapore Experience Division has three units which perform specific functions:
The Secretariat of Singapore Experience will oversee the smooth implementation of all programmes that require integration and interfacing with the various sub-committees/work groups/taskforces. The Secretariat will work with the STB's Service Quality Division, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency and SPRING Singapore to implement a nation-wide service quality initiative, using the Annual Meetings as a rallying and focal point.
The Official Functions and Social Events Unit will look into logistical planning and execution of the four official functions and other social events arranged for the delegates during the Annual Meetings.
The Accommodation and Sponsorship Unit will work closely with the Singapore Hotel Association and 44 official hotels in addressing the accommodation and hospitality needs of all foreign delegates. This unit is also responsible for seeking S$2 million in sponsorship to support this high-profile Meetings.
The Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of the STB, Mr Lim Neo Chian, will chair the Singapore Experience, while Mr Aloysius Arlando, Acting Assistant Chief Executive (BT & MICE) of the STB will be the Deputy Chairman.
The STB’s Deputy Regional Director, ASEAN (Islands), Mr Lee Kai Yin, will be appointed as Programme Director, Singapore Experience. He will continue to hold his current portfolio in ASEAN (Islands) till end January 2006. The Singapore Experience Division is supported by six other officers and their new appointments will be effective from 1 October 2005.
Internally, the Division reports to Mr Aloysius Arlando, Acting Assistant Chief Executive (BT & MICE), which in turn reports to the S2006 Steering Committee for the Annual Meetings.
