Dining takes centre stage this month with the ‘Singapore TIGER Chilli Crab Festival’ flagging off the Singapore Food Festival. We hope you will join us in celebrating this month-long (1-31 July) feast on the fiery, feisty flavours of Singapore’s unique cuisine.
Dining is one of the key strategies that will bolster Singapore’s tourism vision of welcoming 17 million visitors and recording S$30 billion in tourism receipts by the year 2015.
We estimate that on the average, Food and Beverage (F&B) accounts for approximately 14 per cent of the expenditure of tourists holidaying in Singapore, which worked out to a significant S$880 million in 2004. |

We are also pleased to announce that the BTMICE (Business Travel, Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions) Group will launch its marketing campaign in early August. This is to ensure greater synergy with the announcement of a new suite of BTMICE incentive schemes around that same period. The new incentive schemes promise to support the evolving events development needs of the MICE business while enhancing the existing benefits under Make It Singapore Plus. With these two initiatives in place, our industry partners can look forward to a focused and more vibrant business environment.
Entertainment wise, the first MTV Asia Movie Awards will be staged in Singapore on 7 October 2006. The MTV Asia Movie Awards is being organised under the S$50 million strategic alliance formalised between MTV Networks Asia and the STB in February 2006.
Altogether, Singapore will host 17 high profile MTV and Nickelodeon events under the alliance. Of these, the MTV Fashionably Loud event featured Placebo in March and the MTV Centrestage will feature Coldplay on 10 July 2006.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue and do keep your feedback and suggestions coming!
Sincerely, Ken Low Assistant Chief Executive Brand & Communications | | |
