Second victory for Uniquely Singapore Clipper

It was two times a winner for Uniquely Singapore as it sailed to its second successive victory in the Clipper 05-06 Round the World Yacht Race on June 30, 2006.

The Uniquely Singapore crew maintained its pole position in Race 10 from Jamaica to New York, with a significant lead of 3 hour 26 minutes ahead of westernaustralia.com and 4 hour 20 minutes ahead of New York.

The Singapore crew’s recent outstanding performance has notched them up the leader board, giving them a real chance for an overall podium finish.

Said Mr Ken Low, Assistant Chief Executive (Brand and Communications) of the Singapore Tourism Board; “We are absolutely delighted that the Uniquely Singapore crew has bagged yet another victory! They have shown remarkable determination and can-do spirit, working hard to better their performance in every race against more experienced competitors. We are cheering them on as they race to the finish in Liverpool later this month. We are confident they will do Singapore proud!"

Uniquely Singapore Skipper Richard Falk said, “This is a huge confidence boost for the crew, they have now seen what they can achieve - I have a very effective and competitive race team.”

The yachts will be moored till 5 July 2006 in North Cove Marina in lower Manhattan from where they will depart for Jersey – the penultimate destination in the Clipper 05-06 Round the World Race. The celebrations in New York will include a prize giving ceremony and a special fireworks display, among other crew parties and festivities.
