Message from STB
|
 |
There are a number of great reasons to celebrate this month.
Our goal of making Singapore the entertainment capital of Asia is within sight with the signing of a four-year alliance with MTV Networks Asia. How will this directly benefit Singapore? Well, it will see signature MTV and Nickelodeon events staged in Singapore between 2006 and 2009 and we expect that it will inject an estimated S$50 million of business spending into the economy over the next four years.
Then there is the news that Space Adventures has chosen Singapore as its launchpad for space tours, making us the first place outside the US to offer commercial sub-orbital flights.
A key event STB will be participating in is CAREER 2006 where we, with SPRING Singapore, will host the largest integrated pavilion offering more than 1,300 tourism-related jobs. The idea is to entice new talent into our industry to ensure we are able to meet our manpower needs and deliver on our customer promise now and in the future.
|
This brings me to the last but certainly not least reason for celebration. We just honoured our tourism stars - they are the superstars who make Singapore proud and keep our customers coming back for more. Congratulations to the winners of this year's Tourism Awards.
One of the STB's top priorities remains the encouragement of dialogue and exchange of news and views between our industry partners. This is why the March issue of P@ssport sees the introduction of two new columns - Industry Voices and STB Voices.
Industry Voices is aimed at giving key industry leaders a platform to share their views and issues affecting their respective segment. In STB Voices, our key executives will share insights into the activities of their respective divisions.
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue and do keep your feedback and suggestions coming!
Sincerely, Ken Low Assistant Chief Executive Brand & Communications | | |
