Wooing customers in Punjab and West Bengal
Double digit growth of 30-40% in recent years from emerging Indian states such as Punjab and West Bengal prompted STB Delhi recently to mount consumer promotions in the two markets.
Consumer promotions which showcased “Unique Personal Experiences” that every visitor to Singapore can enjoy were held in Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal, and Ludhiana in the state of Punjab.
In Kolkata, popularly known as the cultural and intellectual capital of India, STB chose to showcase modern dance performances by “Artistix” as well as Chinese calligraphy and nail art, to highlight the unique blend of modernity and traditions in Singapore.
In Ludhiana, where the awareness of Singapore is lower, traditional Lion dance performances wowed the crowd. A highlight was a fusion dance performance between the lion dancers and a local Bhangra dance troupe.
The promotions received extensive coverage in key print and electronic media in the two states and industry partners such as Singapore Airlines and key tour operators offering packages at the event reported good response. |
