Your Tourism Update from the Singapore Tourism Board

Nominations are open for 20th Tourism Awards 2005
Delivering exceptional hospitality services to visitors is the hallmark of a premier tourist destination. Each year, the stars of Singapore's tourism industry, from helpful shop assistants and friendly taxi drivers to world-class attractions and creative tourism entrepreneurs, are honoured for their contributions to the tourism industry at the Singapore Tourism Awards, organised by the STB.

There are a total of 30 categories in the 20th Tourism Awards 2005, of which 26 are opened for public nomination by members of the public - both foreign visitors and local residents. To stay relevant to the changing tourism landscape, five new categories have also been introduced this year.

The five new categories are:

Best New Retail Concept
A retail store with a new concept that is innovative and creative in terms of merchandising, in-store displays as well as marketing and promotional activities. In addition to creating a memorable shopping experience and helping differentiate Singapore as a shopping capital, the store should also excel in service standards, the attitude and attentiveness of its staff and staff's knowledge of merchandise and services.

Best Singapore Education Partner – Overseas School Trips
Recognises the efforts of an organisation that has contributed significantly to the development of Singapore as an education hub through the creation of memorable experiences for visiting school groups from overseas.

Best Singapore Travel Story – Broadcast
The story must feature Singapore as a tourism destination for leisure, business, education or healthcare tourism, or be on any of Singapore’s tourism products or services e.g. dining experience, or nightlife entertainment options etc. Open to all producers of original travel stories that feature Singapore exclusively, broadcast within the period 1 November 2004 - 15 September 2005.

Best Singapore Travel Story – Print
The story must feature Singapore as a tourism destination for leisure, business, education or healthcare tourism, or be on any of Singapore’s tourism products or services e.g. dining experience, or nightlife entertainment options etc. Open to all writers of original travel stories that feature Singapore exclusively, published within the period 1 November 2004 - 15 September 2005.

Tourism Host of the Year – Spa
A spa therapist / professional who excels in the knowledge of spa products and services and displays great initiative, attentiveness, communication and interpersonal skills, thereby creating a memorable spa experience for visitors.

If you have been delighted by the quality of a hotel, had a special dining experience at a restaurant or simply been inspired by excellent service or a tourism article on Singapore, nominate the deserving members for the 20th Tourism Awards 2005 now.
