The best place in the world to live for Asian expats
Singapore has been voted the best place in the world for Asians to live in a recently-released survey on expatriate living conditions.
ECA International, the global human resource organisation which did the survey, released three rankings where it compares cities' living standards for west European expatriates, Asian expatriates and Asians living within Asia.
ECA found that Singapore held on to the top spot for Asian expatriates because its offers a good quality of life.
“High quality infrastructure and health facilities, combined with low health risks, air pollution and crime rates make it a very desirable location in which to live,” the Business Times quoted ECA as saying.
In the next three places were Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Kobe, which came in at fifth place, was the only other Asian city to make it to the top 10 list. Rounding off the top 10 were Auckland, Copenhagen, Vancouver, Wellington and Basel.
ECA's annual ranking survey judged 257 locations worldwide, taking into account factors such as climate, natural disasters, health and transport facilities, the quality and availability of goods and services, education, recreation, crime and socio-political climate.
For this year's survey, about 1,000 expatriates from 47 nationalities were surveyed.
