The following conferences and events in the fields of education and healthcare will be held in the upcoming months.

 

Singapore Education Pavilion at Times Education Boutique 2006, India
Singapore Education will be participating in the Times Education Boutique in Bangalore (May 6-7) and Delhi (May 13-14).  This event  is organised by one of India's largest media house, Bennett Coleman and Co. Ltd who has been organising the education fair for the past 7 years.   Institutions such as MDIS, EASB, APMI and SIM have signed up to participate under the Singapore Education pavillion.  Some 20,000 students are expected to attend the Time Education Boutique in each city.


 

1st Neurosurgical Instructional Course featuring Virtual Reality, May 2 – 5, Singapore
A 4-day course (May 2-5) which includes distinguished faculty names such as Professors Albert Rhoton, Dachling Pang, Yoko Kato and Tetsuo Kanno, who with Singapore’s experts, will deliver a program which details specific relevant neurosurgical anatomy supplemented with the virtual reality demonstration and finally specific nuances of a particular approach. The topics covered range from skull base approaches to concepts of neurovascular surgery, spine surgery, functional and minimally invasive neurosurgery.


 

The Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006 - Preparing For Pandemic Influenza: The Avian Dimension And Other Emerging Threats, May 3 – 4, Singapore
The Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006, themed ‘Preparing for Pandemic Influenza: The Avian Dimension and Other Emerging Threats’ — will take place between May 3-4 in Singapore. Jointly organised by The Lancet, Elsevier Health Sciences and Reed Exhibitions, The Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006 on preparing for the next pandemic influenza will provide clinicians and policy makers with the latest information for dealing with an outbreak and identify gaps in preparation plans.


 

Asia Clinical Developments & Outsourcing 2006 - Understanding The Paradigm Shift, May 4 – 5, Singapore
This 2-day event (May 4-5) will cover topics such as legal & regulatory challenges, infrastructure facilities, research resources, clinical research trends and investigator capabilities.


 

International Medical Expo 2006,  May 12-14, Medan, Indonesia
Now in its third year, the International Medical Expo in Medan showcases medical services of neighbouring countries such as Malaysia and Singapore. SingaporeMedicine, which has taken part in the show since its inception, will be supported by the following partners: National Healthcare Group, SingHealth, Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre, Raffles Hospital and Parkway Group Healthcare.


 

The 3rd National Disease Management Conference, May 19 – 20, Singapore
Recognising the importance of chronic disease management in both the local and regional contexts, the Ministry of Health, Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) and National Healthcare Group (NHG) in conjunction and affiliation with the International Disease Management Alliance (IDMA) are organising the 3rd National Disease Management Conference to be held on May 19 - 20 2006.


 

International Laparoscopic Workshop on Morbid Obesity, May 22 – 23, Singapore
This 2-day program (May 22-23)offering a comprehensive overview on the multidisciplinary management of obesity patients is dedicated to physicians, surgeons and allied healthcare professionals.


 

3rd Singapore International Neuroscience Conference, May 23 – 24, Singapore
One of the most important neuroscience meetings held in Singapore and Southeast Asia, this year’s conference is themed "From Brain Research to Brain Repair". It aims to strengthen the bonds between basic neuroscientists and clinicians, and narrow the gap between basic neuroscience research and clinical application.


 

APAO Congress 2006, June 10-14, Singapore
The 21st Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology will be held in Singapore from June 10-14. The APAO was founded in 1958 to bring a closer association between ophthalmologists and strengthen the ongoing prevention of blindness in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The Congress was last held in Singapore in 1968.


 

HospiMedica Asia 2006, October 10-12, Singapore
The 6th International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies will be held at Suntec Singapore on October 10-12. A biennial event, it was launched in 1997. Sponsored by the Ministry of Health (Singapore), the event, organized by Messe Dusseldorf Asia, is open to trade visitors and professionals only.
