This month, we will attempt to unravel the mysteries of leisure travel – who will the new travelers be and why will people take vacations in the future?
The world is ageing, societies are undergoing complex changes, businesses are facing greater competitive pressures, workplace dynamics are shifting, technology is changing our behaviour and impacting our lifestyles – how will all these influence the leisure travel business?
How can Singapore compete as a destination for the future traveler? We share the results of an independent study conducted on behalf of one of Europe’s largest tour operators, Kuoni Travel, which, even if they don’t provide any answers, at least will provoke thought as to how you can prepare and position yourself for the future. |
|
We have also just returned from ITB Berlin where our Uniquely Singapore Style Showcase also drew crowds and attracted attention to the fact that Singapore is indeed coming into its own as a hip and stylish destination, with its own unique character.
Be it in food, fashion or music, Singapore is carving out its own identity through events such as the World Gourmet Summit and the Singapore Fashion Festival as well as the MTV Fashionably Loud event which came to town last month.
Leisure travelers to Singapore will also have more things to do – they can view the new Australian Outback exhibit at the Zoo and come face to face with the “taipan” and they can learn all about the story of the overseas Chinese community at the new Hua Song Museum. Beyond lifestyle and leisure, Singapore was also recently ranked the most competitive Asian economy by a World Economic Forum report – which is good news for Singapore’s positioning as Asia’s business capital.
From all of us at STB, have a successful April!
We hope you will enjoy reading this issue and do keep your feedback and suggestions coming!
Sincerely, Ken Low Assistant Chief Executive Brand & Communications | | |
