Multi-Lingual Tourist Sign System Over the last few years, Singapore has seen strong double-digit growth of Chinese visitors arriving in Singapore. With the rising affluence of the Chinese visitors and their propensity to travel, the China market is indeed a prime region with high growth potential for the coming years.
In addition, Indonesia and Japan remain as top major markets for Singapore, with Indonesia being the top visitor arrival market and Japan as a traditionally key market for Singapore.
As part of the Board's effort to enhance visitors' experience in Singapore, and to make it more friendly for visitors from these non-English-speaking markets, the STB is encouraging all tourism establishments, attractions and hotels to incorporate multi-language signages and communication tools in their premises and facilities. A set of signage application guidelines has been developed by the STB to guide and help those who are keen to align the multi-lingual tourist sign system with the STB.
You can download the guidelines here. |
