GETEX Education Fair GETEX is the largest education fair in the Middle East & Asia. Organised by International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), GETEX is currently held at three venues – Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE and Hyderabad in India. The 17th GETEX Dubai, in April 2005, attracted 438 institutions from 38 countries, 10 country pavilions and 27,000 visitors. The 18th GETEX Dubai held in Dubai from 12-14 April is expected to grow by an estimated 30 per cent.

Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006 The Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006, themed ‘Preparing for Pandemic Influenza: The Avian Dimension and Other Emerging Threats’ — will take place between 3-4 May 2006 in Singapore. Jointly organised by The Lancet, Elsevier Health Sciences and Reed Exhibitions, The Lancet Asia Medical Forum 2006 on preparing for the next pandemic influenza will provide clinicians and policy makers with the latest information for dealing with an outbreak and identify gaps in preparation plans.

	APAO Congress 2006 The 21st Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology will be held in Singapore from 10-14 June. The APAO was founded in 1958 to bring a closer association between ophthalmologists and strengthen the ongoing prevention of blindness in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The Congress was last held in Singapore in 1968.

	HospiMedica Asia 2006 The 6th International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies will be held at Suntec Singapore on 10-12 October. A biennial event, it was launched in 1997. Sponsored by the Ministry of Health (Singapore), the event, organized by Messe Dusseldorf Asia, is open to trade visitors and professionals only.
