Get Up Close with the World's Tallest Animal @ the Singapore Zoo
Characteristic of the zoo's open habitats, the new giraffe exhibit will have a dry moat, allowing visitors to view the magnificent animals unencumbered by artificial barriers. At over 6,000 square metres, it will also feature a viewing platform to increase visibility, with token feeding sessions for visitors to feed the giraffes. The open-styled enclosure will simulate the giraffe's natural habitat in South Africa, with vast open spaces, sandy terrain and tall trees.

Ms Fanny Lai, Executive Director of Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, said, "With the new giraffes, the zoo will now have more than 370 animal species in its collection. The new exhibit is also in line with our goals to promote bio-diversity and add value to the visitor's experience. Now, visitors can learn about this well-known animal not just from books but also through firsthand observation."

Other animals found at the Wild Africa zone are the zebras, lions, white rhinoceroses and cheetahs. Singapore Zoo houses more than 370 animal species, of which 50 per cent are endangered.
