Appointment of Directors Four new directors have been appointed to assist the STB in achieving its corporate objectives. The new directors are:

Dr Jason Yap - Director, Healthcare Services Dr Jason Yap joined the STB as Director, Healthcare Services on 1 June 2005. In his capacity as head of the Healthcare Services Division, Jason will steer the development and marketing of Singapore as Asia's premier healthcare services hub under the SingaporeMedicine brand.
A qualified medical doctor by training and a public health physician by specialisation, Jason is a veteran with over 17 years of broad-based experience in the healthcare industry. He has managed various portfolios in Singapore's Ministry of Health. Prior to joining the STB, he was the Director for Planning & Control in the Information Technology Division of the National Healthcare Group. He was also an epidemiologist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital during the SARS crisis. Jason's experience in the healthcare services industry will bring to the STB new and valuable insights in gearing the growth of this sector. |

Mr Bill Ang - Director, Brand Management Mr William Ang, or Bill as he is more commonly known, joined the STB as Director, Brand Management on 27 June 2005. Bill has close to 20 years of private sector experience in regional brand management, consumer and business marketing, communications, product development and print, film/video and media production. In addition, he has extensive work experience with MNC brands across Asia, including travel hospitality and tourism accounts. He worked with leading global advertising agencies, including Ogilvy & Mather and DDB Worldwide, and has also managed his own integrated communications agency.
In his personal capacity, Bill has lent his expertise to various industry organisations including the Pacific Asia Travel Association's (PATA) Advisory Council, China National Tourism Institute, and the Singapore Film Commission's marketing committees. |

Mr Muhammad Rostam Umar - Director, Communications Mr Muhammad Rostam Umar assumed the position of Director, Communications on 1 July 2005. In this capacity, he leads, drives and manages key communications initiatives in the STB.
The communications role is not new to Rostam as he had served in the Corporate & Media Communications Department from late 1999 to early 2003 where he supported the organisation in various aspects of communications such as corporate communications, public affairs, event publicity, media relations and engagement, and crisis communications.
Rostam's other stints in his 12-year career in the STB include Human Resource in areas such as training and development, employee communications, organisation development, change management and most recently, talent attraction and manpower planning. |

Mr Samuel Sim - Director, Market Development Mr Samuel Sim took on the position of Director, Market Development on 7 July 2005. In this capacity he leads, drives and manages three departments under the International Group, viz. Market Access Department, Market Support Department and Strategic Marketing Department.
In his 12 years with the STB, Samuel has built up extensive knowledge of Asian markets and has worked in tandem with the private sector on Singapore's regionalisation efforts from the late nineties. His two-year stint at the Regional Tourism Division, during which he worked closely with both government agencies and the travel industry, has provided him with insight into regional markets including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam.
He also brings with him overseas experience, honed from the five years he spent in Bangkok as Area Director for Thailand and Myanmar. During his tenure at the STB's office in Bangkok, Samuel was instrumental in achieving double-digit growth for the Thailand market since July 2003, as well as driving record visitor arrivals from the market in 2004.
Samuel's background in destination marketing and exposure to the Singapore travel industry will add value to his new role in market development. |
