University of Nevada, Las Vegas sets up campus in Singapore University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has announced plans to set up a campus in Singapore, its first and only international campus outside the USA.
UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration’s campus in Singapore will be located in The National Library Building on Victoria Street, Levels 10 & 11, and will offer Undergraduate and Executive Masters courses in Hospitality Management.
Students in UNLV Singapore will earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel Administration. Students with sufficient general education credits will qualify for entry into the school’s upper division hospitality courses. UNLV Singapore is offering the college’s upper division courses comprising 23 modules focusing on aspects of Hospitality Management, which include Hotel Administration, Hospitality Marketing, Food & Beverage management, Hotel Law and MICE management. “The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) is excited to establish its first international campus and is looking forward to playing an important role in the development of Singapore’s 'Global Schoolhouse' initiative. UNLV Singapore’s goal is to create a world class hospitality educational facility that will inspire students to live up to high standards,” says Dr. Andy Nazarechuk, Dean, University of Nevada Las Vegas – Singapore Campus. UNLV Singapore will also be collaborating with the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS), on an advanced certificate for executives in the MICE industry. The programme will be based on WDA’s Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ). By working with SACEOS, UNLV will ensure that the programme serves the practical needs of the industry. The partners aim to train a total of 100 MICE executives in two years. Starting early March 2006, UNLV Singapore will begin to accept applications online at www.unlv.edu.sg for enrolment of its first classes that start in September. The Executive Masters Hospitality Management program will commence in November. |
