Singapore Wins Bid to Host Two Major Tradeshows
Singapore’s exhibitions industry receives a boost with the staging of two major tradeshows here in 2007 and 2008.

Singapore will host the Japan International Apparel Machinery (JIAM) exhibition, one of the three largest apparel machinery tradeshows in the world in May 2008. The Singapore edition of JIAM marks the first time that JIAM will be staged outside of Japan. The JIAM is traditionally held once every three years in Japan.

Singapore has also won the bid to once again host the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Asia Pacific exhibition in 2007 and 2008, with an option for 2009 as well. TFWA Asia Pacific is a leading exhibition for the region’s duty free and travel retail industry. The exhibition is organised by TFWA, the world's largest duty free and travel retail association which represents more than 350 key international brand companies supplying duty free and travel retail outlets worldwide. TFWA Asia Pacific has been anchored in Singapore annually since 1995, with the exception of 1998 and 1999 when it was held in Hong Kong. Its last showing here earlier this year attracted over 200 exhibitors and approximately 2,000 trade visitors.

The hosting of JIAM and the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition in Singapore is certainly a big boost for Singapore’s exhibitions industry. By their business potential, prestige, the numbers and quality of buyers and sellers they attract, these tradeshows will strengthen Singapore’s exhibitions calendar for the next few years and Singapore’s position as the leading Convention and Exhibitions city in Asia.
