4D Magix Comes to Sentosa
Singapore’s first and Southeast Asia’s largest 4-dimensional theatre, Sentosa 4D Magix, is now open.

The full spectrum digital surround and computer synchronized special effects motion seats, together with special live environmental effects, allows the audience to fully engage with incredibly life-like images that jump off the giant screen, transforming a normal movie into something spectacular.

Sentosa’s newest offering, built at a cost of S$3.5 million, with state-of-the-art equipment and the most advanced motion based hardware in the world, completes the Imbiah Lookout cluster of activities.

Unlike 3-dimensional motion theatres where the sensation of motion is achieved via seats mounted on a moving platform, the movement effect in a 4D theatre is received directly by each rider via individually controlled seats.

The purpose-built seats come equipped with special effects. Each seat, built at a cost of about S$10,000, has inbuilt speakers as well as environmental effects such as water features, seat vibration, leg ticklers and base shakers.

Chang Chee Pey, Director, Cluster Development (Sightseeing & Cruise), STB, said, “The Sentosa 4D Magix Theatre is Southeast Asia’s first 4D theatre, which is a proven hit amongst families in the United States and Europe. It will add on to the cluster of family attractions at the Imbiah Lookout on Sentosa Island, such as the Sentosa Luge and the Carlsberg Sky Tower.”

Darrell Metzger, Chief Executive Officer, Sentosa Leisure Group, said, “The 4D theatres are very popular with youths and families elsewhere in the world. We hope Sentosa 4D Magix Theatre will give Singaporeans and overseas guests an all-sensory visual treat right here on Sentosa.”
